If possible, please include the following condolence to be sent to family. Sincere Sympathy and condolences on the passing of your dear wife and mother, Shirley. As I read the obituary, I remembered the “happy” times at your farm in West Lawrencetown and how kind Shirley and you were to us – allowing our then four “little” daughters have the thrill of riding for the first time! Roddie, Marie, and Nancy, and all your family, It is truly sad to hear of Shirley’s passing. Shirley was the epitome of poise and calm. Having worked alongside of her at so many shows, including eight of the ten Westphal shows at the Robertson spread, I and the rest of East Coast Ring Crew are saddened by this news. When you bumped into her anywhere you received this warm smile as if she was saying “Ah, there’s another one of my flock coming in.” She gave kind advice and encouragement to all she met. So many, besides her family, will miss her.

sincerely Roddie and family. Please accept my deepest condolences Shirley was always the perfect lady wife and mother. we always looked forward to her oficiating at our shows she was such a fair official treating all competators equally. I think of you both ever so often. yours was a love affair movies are made about. I guess I am the last of the three amigas left. your Shirley, Shirley Major and myself. It was our little way of joking amoung ourselves. May God bless all of you in such a sad time.I am so sorry not to be able to be with you today,but my thoughts and prayers are with you. I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Shirley. She was a wonderful lady and I have such fond memories of her at all of the horse shows, especially Wesphal!
