Ruby Ann MacGillivary
April 11, 1964 – January 2, 2025
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ruby Ann MacGillivary on January 2, 2025, at the age of 60. Ruby was a loving companion, a cherished daughter, a devoted sister, and a steadfast friend to many. Her life was a testament to kindness, loyalty, and love.
Ruby was the devoted companion of the late Gary Gaudet. She was the beloved daughter of Mary MacGillivary (MacKinnon) and the late Charlie MacGillivary. Ruby was also a proud and loving mother to her daughter, Cindy White.
A cherished sister, Ruby is survived by her brothers Teddy (Melinda), Naish (Stacy), Jimmy (Linda), Danny (Darlene), Pius (Crystal), Alex (Tammy), and Jaime (Crystal); and her sisters Judy (Al), Margie, Dollena (Daryl), Shirley (Simon), Corrine (Bernie), Cathy (Gerry), Jackie (Myles), Valerie (Sandy), and Terrylynn (Chuck), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her brother Peter (Dawn), sister Debbie (Wayne), and her beloved pets Gizmo and Daisy. She is also survived by her cherished dogs, Lilly, and Winston.
Ruby dedicated 32 years of her life to environmental services, where her diligence and commitment left a lasting mark. Beyond her career, she was a lifelong animal lover, a passion that reflected in the love and care she gave to her pets and all creatures. She also found joy in reading, with books offering her a window to endless adventure.
Known for her gentle nature and vibrant spirit, Ruby’s kindness was boundless. She had a quiet strength and an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone she encountered.
As per Ruby’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruby’s memory may be made to the SPCA, honoring her deep affection for animals and her commitment to their care.
Ruby’s presence in this world was a gift, and while she will be profoundly missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Special thanks to the Cancer Centre and Palliative Care staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
