Obituary of Edward Lynn Goforth

Edward Lynn Goforth, Sr. December 11, 1938 – December 31, 2024 Edward Lynn Goforth, Sr, 86, of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, passed away on Dec. 31.2024. He was born in Bristol, TN, USA, and spent his formative years in the Dublin, VA, USA area. Ed was a graduate of Dublin High School and Virginia Tech. He was preceded in death by his parents; Eldon Lee Goforth, Sr. and Louise Boy Goforth, son; Edward Lynn Goforth, Jr., and siblings; Eldon Goforth, Jr., Patricia Goforth Tickle, and Shirley Goforth Belcher. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Allene M. Goforth, three children from a previous marriage, daughters, Robin G. Feaganes (Jim, Staunton, VA), R. Bethe Goforth (Louisville, KY), son, Kelly S. Goforth (Louisville, KY); and daughter-in-law, Beth Kirby Goforth (Richlands, VA). He is also survived by five grandchildren; Jed Goforth, Jake Goforth, Lyda Goforth, Kevin Feaganes, and Ashley F. Viray (Angelo), and three great-grandsons; Graham Feaganes and Andre and Luka Viray. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. Ed was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman, and resided over 40 years in the western United States after previously living in Virginia and North Carolina. After retirement in the state of Utah (USA) in 2002, he and his wife moved to Viola, ID (USA) and he operated a small business for 20 years. He recently moved to Sydney, NS, Canada, where his wife is originally from. Funeral arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Funeral Home in Sydney, Nova Scotia. A Celebration of Life service has been planned for Saturday, April 5th, his family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mountain View United Methodist Church (Dublin, VA) with his memorial service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Jan Nicholson Angle, commencing at 2:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that individuals donate to the charity of their choosing.
