Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lawrence George Carroll (aka Larry or Cheeks), age 56 of Club Road, Hatchet Lake passed away January 1, 2025 at Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Halifax. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Allen Carroll and Lorraine McInnis (Kiley). Larry loved his family and dog unconditionally; he went above and beyond to provide for them. Larry worked many jobs growing up, but his longest career of over 30 years as a labourer/machine operator was with J. Mason Contracting, our fondest memories are him cruising around in the dump truck waving to everyone. He loved his job and all his buddies that he worked with. He enjoyed coming up with ideas to make any job easier. Larry had a passion for any activity, he enjoyed being on the trails for poker runs on his side by side or just exploring new places. He enjoyed driving on the golf cart in the community with his sidekick Zeus (dog). Larry loved spending time at the camp and playing bingo with his wife, playing pool, playing baseball, boating, skiing, taking the dogs to the park with his daughter, watching the fights with his son and friends and driving his motorcycle. Larry was always laughing with that big smile and had a heart of gold. He managed the work lotto pool and was an avid player of the Bay Treasure Chest and Firefighters draws; he was determined to win. Larry lived life to the fullest and made friends wherever he went and fought his health battles hard to the end. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nancy (Franklin); son, Calvin (Sarah); daughter, Kendal (Evan); and his amazing granddaughter, Chloe (his pride and joy). His chosen brother Sunil. As well as many in-laws, Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and Zeus. He is predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Allen; father In-law, Harold Franklin; brother In-law, Michael Franklin; sister-In-law, Catherine Slaunwhite; and Nephew, James Slaunwhite. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nova Scotia ATV Association (ATVANS).
