M. Annette (Oldford) Boutilier It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mabel Annette Boutilier, on Thursday, Oct 24, 2024, at the age of 69, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. Annette was the daughter of the late W. Albert and C. Grace Oldford, of Glace Bay. Annette is survived by Tom, her devoted husband of 44 years; three daughters, Alaina Campbell (Robert), Allison and Alyssa, all of Glace Bay. She is also survived by her brothers, Barry (Donna), Doug (Mary), Blair (Sophia) and sister, Grace Marie Cameron (Gary), sisters-in-law, Mora Oldford, Margie Higgins (Bruce), Janet Bruce (David) and brothers-in-law, George Hoban, Rock Filion, and Andrew Boutilier (Ninu) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Annette was predeceased by brother, Major-General (Retd) W. Richard Oldford and sisters, Faye Hoban and Myra Filion, and nephew, Mark Higgins. She was a graduate of Morrison High School and Nova Scotia Teacher’s College. Annette was a teacher in the Glace Bay Area Schools for almost 35 years. She taught at Donkin-Morien High, Central School, John Bernard Croak, Morrison Jr. High, and Oceanview Education Centre. The bulk of these years were spent as a Special Needs Teacher, a challenging position that she thoroughly enjoyed and loved. She always treated her students and colleagues with care, compassion, and respect. Annette’s favorite enjoyment was spending time out on the Mira at the Oldford family bungalow. She loved hockey games, vacations and poker nights with Michele, Tryston (Cassie), Curtis, Joshua, and Lukas. She also enjoyed sleepovers, make-up sessions and watching The Eras Tour for the millionth time with Dinao. Annette was an avid fan of curling and Coronation Street along with Hallmark movies, which required viewing. The family would like to thank the Staff of 4D and the An Cala Unit for their support and compassion during Annette’s care. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9,2024, from 2-4 p.m. in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.
