70, of Halifax passed away on January 28, 2023 at the Victoria General Hospital. Born in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of the late, Oscar Lorenzo Herrera Pestana, and Sylvina Hernandez Pestana. A lifelong Marine Engineer, he worked for many organizations including the Canadian Coast Guard, Secunda Marine, Irving, and most recently BC Ferries. His relentless pursuit of excellence allowed him to travel the world and form lifelong relationships with people across the globe. A dedicated scholar and lover of sport, he relished the chance to compete in any way possible. A true gentleman, with a larger-than-life personality. His endless optimism was and continues to be an inspiration to many. He is survived by his children, Felix Yasser, Xanadu, Kobe and Kadi. As well as his two sisters Ines, and Dulce. He was predeceased by his parents. Arrangements have been entrusted to T.J Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, 902-835-4212, where a celebration of life service will be held on Thursday February 2, 2023 at 11:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel. The family kindly requests guests to please wear white or cream colours. The family sends their thanks to the BC Cancer Centre, and the Palliative Care team at the Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.
