Obituary of Judy Marlene White

Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beautiful wife and mom, Judy “Jude” White (Gaul) 74, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully after an unexpected and devastating confrontation with cancer. Judy’s fun-loving nature will be remembered and cherished by her devoted husband of 55 years, Keith White; best friend and daughter Stephanie Bigelow (Jeff); and adoring son Derek (Lori). Her memory will also live on through her three brothers Reginald (Connie), Gary (Viki), and Michael (Pam), three grandsons Cooper, Tucker, and Hunter and step-grandchildren Jordan, Shamus, and Maria. Judy also shared her love with several special nieces and a nephew. Judy was born in Middleton on November 11, 1948, to the late Reginald and Diana (Steyt) Gaul. She spent her childhood in beautiful Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, growing up with her three brothers. There was no shortage of laughter among them. Being outnumbered by the boys, Judy was always able to hold her own by finding humour in their shenanigans. In 1965 Judy met her husband, Keith. They spent the earliest days of their marriage building a strong foundation for their future, but their most cherished achievement was building a family. Judy beamed with pride for Stephanie and Derek, they could do no wrong in her eyes. Filled with love for her family, the birth of her grandsons made Judy feel complete. An active and engaged Nan, she kept up with her grandsons and never missed a beat of their lives. She took every opportunity to spend time with them, from graduations and birthdays to a quick drive to school. She cherished her moments with them and truly couldn’t be prouder of the strong men the three have become. Judy’s enthusiasm didn’t stop with her family, it translated into her work as well. In 1978, she started working nights at Woodlawn Medical Clinic in medical records and was quickly promoted to a management position which she held until retirement. Judy’s colleagues will remember her warm smile and helping hand for years to come. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and manager, Judy was also known as an animal lover. She had an active soul and as such spent many days exploring Shubie Park with her dog Kiwi. Since childhood she adored horses and dreamed of having one of her own. In 1997, she realized that dream and has since been “mom” to many horses. Most recently, Rusty at Sumac Farms who will miss his Mum and riding partner dearly. Grooming and riding brought her great joy, and she loved spending her days at the barn alongside her best friend, Maureen. Her presence there will be missed by Patty, Tina, Rhonas, and the rest of the crew. In spite of her sudden and untimely passing, Judy lived a full, vibrant life. Her ever-young spirit and warm laugh will continue to be celebrated by those who loved her most. Arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, Halifax.
