Please share a memory of Wilson to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wilson Joseph MacIntyre Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Wilson MacIntyre at An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Walter and Mae McIntyre. Dad was born and raised in MacKay’s Corner where he made many lifetime friends. In his early years, he moved to Ontario with Sheliah where they got married and shortly after returned to Cape Breton to raise their family. In his younger years, Dad loved spending time coaching his son in minor hockey, playing golf and travelling to Montreal to watch his team the Montreal Canadiens. His favourite sport was fastball so this past summer he travelled with his family to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays and have a visit with his sister. Throughout his life, both he and Sheliah owned and ran multiple businesses in Glace Bay including MacIntyre’s Burner Service, Main & McKeen Irving and Quality Dairy. Dad also enjoyed driving taxi in both Glace Bay and Sydney. Dad was a talented guitar player who loved to play with family, friends and the band “The Four Corners”, but he was the happiest when sitting on his front step with his family , drink in hand making everyone laugh with his sarcasm. Wilson is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sheliah (MacDonald); son, Matthew (Kim); daughter Sarah (Michael), brother Bill (Debbie); sisters, Betty Lou (Robert) McCarty, Leona McIntyre, Barbara Harrington; sister-in-law, Shelia McIntyre.
