Obituary of Alfred Ernest Brown

BROWN, Alfred Ernest (CD) passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27, 2022, at his home in Bedford, N.S. with family by his side. He was born in Chatham, N.B. on August 22, 1934, and is predeceased by his parents Josephine (Petrie) and Ernest Walter Brown, his only brother Walter Joseph Brown, and only daughter Nancy Ann Brown-Fellows (Joseph). Al worked for 42 years at Halcraft Printing in Halifax, most of these as its manager (“Alcraft”). He was an honest and well-respected member of the printing industry, and as a businessman involved actively in several civic and business organizations. As a youth he served as an Army cadet and transitioned to the Militia where he served in the 3 (C) Intelligence Training Company, Canadian Intelligence Corps from 1954 to 1977 attaining the rank MWO. During his retirement he enjoyed the friendship of fellow St. Ignatius Church parishioners and was a member of several committees, especially Maintenance. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine Louise (Guinan); sons, David (Jocelyn) Bedford, and Gary (Peggy) Halifax; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
