Obituary of Babby Sweet

Please share a memory of Babby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eva Mary (Babby) Sweet, 73 Glace Bay We the family of Eva Mary (Babby) Sweet are heartbroken to announce her passing at home on Sunday, February 27, 2022, with her loved ones by her side. Born in Glace Bay, Babby was the daughter of the late Mae (Byrne) and Tim Toomey. Our mom was a fun loving, sun loving woman who was always up for a gathering around the Kitchen Island or pool, just listening to old country music, particularly Alan Jackson. Her favourite thing to do was clean. She cleaned her home, her yard, her barns, and when she finished at her home, she moved on to someone else’s, with or without their consent. Mom shared an incredibly special bond with her grandson Justin Spicer and his fur baby MJ. Justin was her proudest accomplishment. Babby had a wonderful relationship with all her siblings. She loved her trips to Florida with her sister Pat, her time and conversations with her brother Kevin, and her Saturday visits with her brother Allie. Mom cared for Sharon, Terry, and Tim as if they were her own. She adored her nieces and had a special place in her heart for each of them. Mom also took immense pleasure in visiting Uncle Don and Aunt Jean in Neil’s Harbour. Mom was lucky to have countless “best” friends and friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime, we would like to name just a few of these friendships in which Babby had, Theresa (Sparkes) and Don Donovan, Jean Ingraham, Dale Goldman, Jean Gillis, and very special family friend Clarence Sehl. We the family do not know what we would have done without Clarence the past two years, he was nothing short of amazing. Babby is survived by her daughter Cup (Marlene) Craig Lewis, who resided and cared for her mom up until her final breath; grandson Justin Spicer; as well as a son Michael (Shannon), Drumheller, Alberta; six brothers, Gerald (Helen), Byshe, Kevin, Allie (Rhonda), Terry (Jeannie) and Tim; five sisters, Sissy MacNeil (Joe), Roddie Snook, Ruth LeBlanc, Pat Wilcox (John), Sharon Lewis (David) and brother-in-law, Walter (Sheila) Sweet. Bobby is also survived by two granddaughters, Noelle, and Alyssa and three great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Babby is predeceased by husband Art Sweet and a brother Mick. We would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Diane MacLachlan and the team of third floor South, Glace Bay Hospital as well as the VON nurses, Stacey, Cathy, Janine, and Elaine. There will be no visitation. Service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cape Breton SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J.
