Age 79, of Lower Sackville went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. Janice was the daughter of the late John and Muriel Benson of Toronto and is pre-deceased by her Grandson, Neil Thomas and her sister-in-law, Marie Benson. Janice will be sadly missed by her husband, Fred Devonport (Bridgewater); sons, Robert (Cheryl) of Sackville, Ted (Janice) of Bedford; daughter, Brandi (Chris) of Halifax, sons Rick and Mike and daughter Kim all of Sackville; and her brother, Richard of Sackville. Janice also had several Grandchildren and Great- Grandchildren that she loved dearly and was very proud of. Robyn, William, Travis, Noah, Harper, Kylie, Layla, Christopher, and Cobain. A special thank you to Paulette & Brian Keough. Janice was an active member of Faith Baptist Church, Lower Sackville. She was loved by her church family and worked tirelessly as the Church Librarian for many years. Janice was also active in Women’s Missions, Bible Study and enjoyed taking part in the ALPHA programs. In keeping with Janice's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life is being planned for June 6, 2022, at Faith Baptist Church in Lower Sackville. Pastors Borden Scott (Faith Baptist) and Gerald Kendrick (City Church Halifax) will be officiating. Interment to follow at Oakridge Memorial Gardens in Lower Sackville. A special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at the QE2, Infirmary and Victoria General sites for their skilled, compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following. Faith Baptist Church, City Church Halifax, QE2 Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31).
