Obituary of "Dolly" Winsor

Dolorita (Dolly) Winsor, 90 Glace Bay, N.S. With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Dolly in her 90th year at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Sydney, N.S. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence (McCormick) Currie. She was the loving wife of Bill Winsor. Dolly, the last surviving sibling of her large family, was predeceased by brothers, Patty, Dannie (Beryl), Warnie (Lee), Blaise, Karl (Evelyn), and Ray; sisters, Ollie, Lillian (Beau), Pearl (Hughie), Norah (Bob), Gloria (Bernie), and infant sister Rita. Dolly’s childhood was spent in Glace Bay before moving to Toronto in the early 1950’s for employment. Bill Winsor, her soon to be husband, joined her from Sydney and they began a love story that lasted 44 years until Bill’s passing. Dolly was a beautiful soul inside and out; her smile and wit would brighten any day. She loved God, music, dancing, reading, conversation; Dolly was always up for a travel adventure with family. Her unwavering constant in life was the love for family and husband Bill. Dolly and Bill’s dream was to return to Cape Breton “Home of their Hearts” after many years living in Newmarket, Ontario. Fate was unkind, and Bill died in 1996, a year after his retirement and Dolly returned to Cape Breton in 1997. We were blessed to have Dolly in our lives, many memories were made on the Mira, as well as excursions near and far, visits to the Savoy Theatre, and sunny afternoons on the beach. Dolly’s enjoyment of every moment was enriched because she shared it in memory of Bill. Left to mourn are sister-in-law Karen Winsor, brother-in-law, Douglas Winsor, and many devoted nieces and nephews. Her love was a blessing to all. Her family thanks Victoria Haven Nursing Home staff and Dr. Dias for the special care they provided to Dolly the past 5 ½ years. We are grateful to the ER staff, Dr. Coakley, Dr. Ritter and the Palliative Care Team of CB Regional Hospital for their care and compassion. “Beautiful memories are silently kept of an Aunt we loved dearly and will never forget.” There will be a private family service for Dolly and arrangement have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J.
