William “Bill” Joseph Politte Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Politte, age 72 on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at home. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of late Paul and Minnie (Fiolek) Politte. In his youth, Bill was full of life and mischief. His stories of practical jokes and dare devil stunts were endless. He loved the outdoors, and could be found hunting, fishing, or even just tinkering with an engine of some sort in his yard. During this time, he was employed as a machinist with Sydney Steel until its closure. Even though Bill was a quiet man, he was a natural storyteller. He loved to sit around with his guitar and his friends, swapping tales and laughing late into the night. Unfortunately, this zest for life caught up with him and his health made his world a little smaller. During his last years, he wasn’t able to venture far from home, so he relied on his memories of these exploits and adventures more often. Dad was not a perfect man; however, he did his best with what he knew and always with the best intentions. He will be remembered by those who knew him as someone who was larger than life, with a generous nature and a willingness to help anyone in need. Bill is survived by his daughters, Beth Politte (Vince), ArelenePolitte(Lee); grandchildren, Dani and Chase; brothers, Peter (June), and Blackie (Sheila); sisters, Beatrice and Frances, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Mick; sisters, Pauline and Helen. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Reception to follow. Donations may be made to The Canadian Red Cross or the Dialysis Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. The family would like to thank the Dialysis Unit at the CBRH and first responders for all their care and compassion during this time and the kindness and support of T. J. Tracey Funeral Home.
