Obituary of Margaret Anne Hennessey

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Anne Hennessey (nee Chatwell) Reserve Mines It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret (Marg) Anne Hennessey announce that our beloved mother has passed away after her brave battle with cancer on November 10th, 2020 Marg was born on the Manitoulin Island in Northern Ontario; however, she has lived the past 43 years here in Reserve Mines, Cape Breton. Her greatest source of pride and love was her family; her son, John Lyle (Evelyn) Hennessey (Airdrie, AB); daughter, Laurie Lee Ann Hennessey ( Reserve Mines, NS); two Granddaughters (Jasmine Hennessey and Brooklyn Hennessey(Cory MacKinnon), Reserve Mines; Grandson (Braydon Hennessey, Airdrie AB and two great grandchildren (Jaelynn and Declan Hennessey, Reserve Mines). Marg was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Michael Arthur Hennessey; Sister, Gwynn Miller (nee Chatwell) of Sudbury, ON. Marg will be remembered for her caring heart and her outgoing personality, among many other things. She had a gift for talking with people and making friends wherever she went and many times she would know their life’s story before their conversations ended. Throughout the years she loved to travel, whether she was visiting her son and his family in Airdrie, AB, family in ON, or travelling through Europe with her former husband Mike as a young couple stationed in Germany. Later, it was off to England and Ireland with her partner Donnie. Marg and Donnie shared a love of Music and Dance and loved to cut a rug. She made lifelong friends throughout the years and cherished those friendships. She truly cared about her family and her greatest role was that of Nanny as she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She will also be sorely missed by her partner in crime, confident and chosen sister Frances Cooling (Auntie Fran and family). In her younger years whether trying to drive a stock a car in a Powder Puff, giving a go at Dirt Biking, playing in Oakville’s Ladies Softball or later, standing on the top of a mountain in the Canadian Rockies and having a snowball fight on a glacier. If it looked fun, Marg was willing to give it a try! Thank you, to the Physicians, Nurses and staff at all Healthcare Facilities; Victoria General, CB Regional Hospital and most recently at Glace Bay Hospital (3 South), who cared for Mom in her final weeks. Your dedication, care and kindness helped ease the difficulties of her battle with Cancer. Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Society or the Palliative Care Unit of the Glace Bay Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday, November 16, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay (902)849-4199.
