Cheryl Lorraine Ridout

It is with a saddened heart that we, the family, announce the passing of Cheryl Lorraine (MacKeigan) Ridout on December 28, 2024, in Red Deer Alberta Hospice. Cheryl was born in Glace Bay on April 3, 1970. Cheryl was the daughter of the late Bobby and Gertie Mackeigan of Glace Bay, N.S.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Stanley, daughter Tiffany(Curtis), sons Ryan (Macayla) and Kyle and fur baby Lily; mother-in-law Bev (Cliff), father-in-law Wayne; sisters: Shirley (Ricky), Florence (Dave), Colleen (Kerry); brothers: Billy (Donna), Kenny (Donna), Eddie (Bernadette); sisters-in-law: Crystal (Shawn), Barbara, AnnMarie MacKeigan and her sweet little niece Maddy of Red Deer.
Cheryl is also survived by many nieces and nephews, uncles, Carl (Chrissy), Harold (Judy) MacKeigan, Fred (Marie) Lynk, Jerry (Shelley) Lynk; aunts: Rhodena Spencer, Mary (Ralph) Costard and very dear friends Lorilynn Rich, Gail Hall, Diane Steele, Juanita Musgrave and her chosen god daughter Candice MacDonald.
Besides her parents Cheryl was predeceased by brothers Junior and Keith, brother-in-law Richie Feaver and sister-in-law Ruth Lynk.
Cheryl had a deep love for all of her nephews and nieces and all of their children. She created a strong bond with each and every one of them. She thought at one point she would steal a few of her brother and sisters’ grandchildren while she awaited one of her own. She was expecting to meet her first grandchild in February, a granddaughter, Violet Cheryl Marie Ridout, and she was on top of the world awaiting her arrival. We are sure Cheryl will be there for every one of her milestones.
Over the years Cheryl worked for Red Deer School Board as a caretaker before she moved on as an employee of Red Deer Recreation Center for the past 10 years.
In 1998 Cheryl and her family moved to Alberta to make a better life for her children, leaving her home in Glace Bay. She visited often over the years never forgetting her Cape Breton Roots here at home.
In her younger years you could find her with her children at an arena for hockey, lacrosse and soccer games, shopping or taking in a movie with her daughter Tiffany who always kept her mom laughing. Cheryl loved the holidays Christmas/Thanksgiving/Halloween, she loved decorating and cooking and enjoyed company, drinks, and good food and lots of laughs with friends and family.
Cheryl loved her little baby girl doggy miss Lily. Lily, who was always snuggled up next to her mama after her surgeries and chemo giving her the comfort and love she knew her mama needed.
To all of Cheryl’s family and friends who sat with her throughout her journey of surgeries and chemo, and for all of your love and care we thank you. Thank you to Red Deer and Innisfail Hospital staff, Innisfail Homecare and Red Deer Hospice for your love, support, and tenderness during her stay; you will always be remembered.
All donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to Hospice Cape Breton.
