Obituary of Daniel Joseph Briggs

Daniel Joseph Briggs, 88 Daniel Joseph Briggs, 88, of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024. Born and raised in Glace Bay, Danny was the son of the late George Briggs and Mary (McDougall) Briggs. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, dedication, and generosity. Danny is lovingly remembered by his children, Daniel Briggs (Steven Gurtz) and Trudy (Brian) Wilson; his cherished grandchildren, Keith Wilson, and Kara (Bunch); and his adored great-grandchildren, Liam, Olivia, Jaxson, Cameron, and Kennedy. He also leaves behind his brothers, Sheldon (Dianne) Briggs and Wayne Penny; and sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Popwell and Joanie Aucoin (Eddie Turnbull). He was predeceased by his son, Kenny Briggs; his brothers, Gerald Leo Briggs, Kenneth Briggs, and George Briggs; and his sister, Connie MacDonald. Danny and Judy opened their hearts and home to many foster children over the years, providing them with a solid foundation and a brighter future. Their kindness and generosity left a lasting legacy that will be remembered by all who were touched by their care. Danny was passionate about the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, and raising beagles. Local fishermen always knew the smelts were running if Danny was at the pier, a testament to his love for the sport and his connection with the community. Danny’s life was marked by his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to helping others, and his appreciation for the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life will be announced at a later date.
