Obituary of Irene McLaughlin

Irene McLaughlin age 92 of Halifax passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 29, 2024 at Sagewood, Lower Sackville NS. Born in River Bourgeois Richmond Co. N S. She was the daughter of the Late Joseph and Clara (Landry) Burke. Loving mother to Dianne (Brent Bowdridge) Dartmouth, Janet (Jim Murphy) Halifax, Paul (Stacey) Halifax. Devoted grandmother to Josh, Hayley, Paige, Jared and Samuel. Great grandmother to Nylah and Arla whom she could not get enough of. The family is comforted in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband of 43 years Donald and infant daughter Lisa. Irene was predeceased by brothers, Eddie, Vitus, Freddie, Roderick, Alex, John, Ernest, Anthony, and Raymond. Also predeceased by sisters, Anna and Margaret. She is survived by loving siblings Theresa, Mary, Emily and Richard. She was a devout Catholic who enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crosswords, baking and elderobics. Irene was a very kind, generous and compassionate person and who would always do anything she could for her family and friends. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Hummingbird Unit and support staff at Sagewood,Lower Sackville. Visitation will be held from 7-9:00 p.m. Wednesday November 6, 2024 in T.J. Tracey Funeral Home 71 McQuade, Lake Crescent, Beechville NS. The funeral Mass, followed by a reception, will be held Thursday November 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church 6476 Bayers Road Halifax, with Fr. Peter Hanna officiating.
