My wife, Brenda, as well as myself, are very blessed to have many fond memories of Rae from our ST.FX years. Rae was always so beautiful in every way and I remember when I went to P.E.I and we enjoyed spending time together and how everyone in her home town thought the world of her. Rae is someone we always wanted to continue to enjoy spending time with because she was so wonderful and kind. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Brenda and I will remember her forever.

Dear Billy, Kathleen, Emily and extended family,
So very sorry to hear of Rae’s passing. Over the years that I taught at Westmount School I had the pleasure of running into Rae. She was usually coming from work and would stop and greet me with her beautiful smile. As a proud mom Rae obliged me with an update of Emily and Kathleen’s productive lives.
Please accept my deepest condolences. May the wonderful memories you share assist you during this difficult time.

Dear Rae ,
We met at St.Francis Xavier University many years ago ,and became great friends .
Your kindness and generosity was amazing , always thinking about other's needs .
You would leave a coffee and muffin in my room so I would have breakfast , I was not a early bird .
We both graduated University , and I joined you in Souris PEI ,we had a plan to seek employment , but both NS and PEI offered no employment options .
The second plan was to meet West and look for work there , but I only made it to Ontario and decided to return to University for a second degree in Social Work .
I found work in Ontario and we lost touch for many years .
You tracked me down about 8 years ago , and we just picked up where we left off .
You are and will always be a very special friend to me , "one of a kind".
I enjoyed your very proud stories about your two beautiful daughters , and how much you love them .
oh and your dog Abby too .
I miss you my dear friend , miss our calls and texts .
Rest in Peace Rae , until we meet again , love you buddy xoxo
My condolences to the Family of Rae .

Rae and I met at 18 years of age at University. We were both in the nursing program. We soon realized that we were exactly the same age and shared the same birth date. We became great friends and always lived in the same residence together. Fast forward through nursing we ended up in Edmonton AB for our first nursing jobs. Oh what fun we had. So many first in life shared together.
43 years of friendship, so many memories. Love you Rae. Please rest in peace.

Rae was a great friend and coworker since late 1980s. I met her when she was in nursing school via my husbands sister who is also a good friend of mine, Susan Sullivan. What a great professional nurse who took amazing care of our very ill patients both on the floor and in the outpt setting. She loved her family and had a great smile and was so caring and kind to everyone. Great cook! I still have hand written recipes from her that I will cherish. She excelled at every role she played in life. RIP Rae and your memory will live on through your lovely daughters.

For Rae's Family,
I worked with Rae on 8A and in MDU as a Pharmacist colleague. I appreciated her so much. Her warmth made a huge difference at work and she greeted me each day with the most genuine care and interest. I carry nothing but admiration for our Hem Nursing colleagues; not only because they perform miracles every day but because of the closeness they share. The closest work Family I've ever witnessed. Rae was the Matriarch. She will be missed terribly. I will think of her and try to implement everything she represented into my career.
My heart goes out to all her family and friends. After many days of rain and fog I can feel the sun peaking through my window. Thank-you, Rae.

Genuine, happy, funny and kind are but a few of the words that come to mind when I think of Rae. As a pharmacist colleague, I had the privilege of working along side Rae on 8A/BMT hematology and in MDU.
We both had strong connections to “up east” and on warm sunny days we would lament the fact we were missing a great beach day at Basin Head and in the depths of winter we would chuckle and count our lucky stars we were missing the blast of snow the island was getting.
Rae had a way of making every interaction positive and on the hardest days for patients and colleagues alike, she always made you feel lighter.
There are no words to lighten the pain and sorrow we collectively feel with Rae’s passing.
To Rae’s family, my deepest condolences.

When Rae came to our Medical Day Unit, she was one of many wonderful peeps who transferred from the 8th floor. I was struck with how much energy she exuded and her long stride when she walked and I thought, they must have been busy on that floor for this nurse to always be so energetic! Little did I know that this was someone who was so passionate about her work that she would come in very early before our shift started just to be ready for the day’s work. She wanted to be the first person to help her patients.
As I got to know her, I realized this beautiful soul was passionate about everyone and everything especially for the people she cared for. She was and will always be remembered in my heart as a loving mother to her ‘girls’ , Billy and her family. As well, to all of us who were so very lucky to have worked with her.
May your sorrows be cheered by any memories of Rae that bring you joy.

Dear Billy, Emily & Kathleen
I have the card Rae gave me for my birthday last year speaking of the importance of friendship. I am so grateful for the time we had together.
Rae & I retired together in June 2020 after building memories working in MDU. She called me shortly after we retired & asked if I would like to go to The Brooklyn Warehouse for lunch. One of her fav restaurants.
Our friendship took off from there & like our gardens grew & blossomed over the past several years.
We had a lot in common. Love of spicy foods, checking out new restaurants, our yoga & exercise classes, going to markets/exhibition shows & just randomly checking out Halifax. One of the best days we had was the day we checked out 4 Asian grocery stores in Hfx. Not a pub crawl but an Asian grocery store crawl! LOL! She loved it!
Her smiles, winks & laughter will be so missed & never be replaced but I am so grateful to have those memories.
My heart is with you Billy, Emily & Kathleen & your entire family at this time. Sending hugs & love to you all.

I met Rae in 1989. We had both just started jobs on 8A at the VG Hospital. I was a brand new nursing grad and she was the most supportive colleague and just a wonderful person. Her smile lit up every room she entered. She was beautiful inside and out. We worked the same rotation for several years until I moved to another nursing unit, but during those years I learned so much from her. We lost touch, but her impact on me lasted decades. I am one of the many people that Rae cared over the years at the VG Hospital. Because I have regular treatments, I've come to know many of the nurses and staff. Rae stood out for her expert nursing, compassion, her engaging smile and for always taking time to chat. After a few years, we discovered that we shared the same birthday - something we always laughed about afterwards. She was special, memorable and I'm so sorry to learn of her passing. I first met Rae at Souris Regional High School. We became friends. I envied her really with her beauty, intelligence and she was on the basketball team (I wasn’t so sporty.) After high school we both went St. Fx. I was homesick most of the year but Rae would make a joke and say you can’t leave me here alone Glo! Chemistry is too hard! I stayed the year and transferred to UPEI the next year. We kept in touch sporadically over the years as people do. I could see her beautiful family and love of dogs and nature on Facebook. We always intended to meet for tea so she could talk to my daughter who was a first year nurse. I was at work today when I heard this news. My brain was scattered for the rest of the day. I know you will be missed Rae by many people. I will always remember that year at St. Fx we spent. Two Souris high girls trying to get through doing things like making Kraft Dinner with no milk! Dropping water balloons on the nuns heads at Mount St. Bernard residence and going to the Snow Queen for ice cream. Also hitchhiking to PEI without parent’s knowledge. She sure loved to prank and she got me a few times as well. My condolences to Rae’s family and friends, former co-workers at the VG and anyone feeling this great loss. God Speed old friend.

Rae was and forever will be one of my favourite people in this world.
Although I don’t remember the exact day or time I first met Rae Rae I can say she will have a lasting impact on my heart.
The year was 2005 and I as a new RN 3 years out of nursing school would be on night shift on 8a with Rae. I recall her phoning her girls to wish them a good night sleep and tell them how much she loved them before they settled into bed. I remember thinking what a great Mom Rae was and admired her so much for so many reasons.
Rae was a beauty inside and out! She had the best smile and wonderful sense of humour! We shared many belly laughs and she would tell me the next day at work how she went home that night and shared with Billy or the girls the funny antics we had at work.
She was an absolute work horse and you never saw her sitting still when there was work to be done! She had one of the best work ethics I have ever seen. You literally had to beat her to the patient to get a piece of the work action :)
Rae was one of a kind and loved life !! She exuded love and kindness. It came from within. It was contagious.
When I knew Rae would be at work beside me I always knew it was guaranteed to be a good day, regardless of what we may have had face that day. She was and always will be to me … the best of the best!
Rest easy my friend. I will forever miss you dearly!

I met Rae when I moved to Edmonton in 1986. We worked together at the University of Alberta Hosp and became great friends. We were all in our early 20’s and loved to go out in the evenings of our days off dancing. To this day whenever I hear “Spirit in the Sky” I think of Rae, it was our groups song! Of course we had to drop by the “golden arch’s”, as Rae called it, at the end of each night out. Last year I reached out to her to tell her I’d heard her song….right away she messaged back with the name of it! Great memories of a great person. I’ll miss talking with you Rae.
