Obituary of Frances Irene Ardelli

The family of Frances Irene (Kokocki) Ardelli are saddened to announce her unexpected death on Sunday, March 4th in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Frances, born on January 4th, 1939 in Sydney, was the only daughter of the late Albert and Sophia (Bobyk) Kokocki of Whitney Pier. A lifelong resident of Lingan Road, Frances moved to Halifax in 2018 to be near her daughter and resided at Parkland Clayton Park. Frances graduated from the Saint Rita School of Nursing in 1958 and worked predominately in pediatrics both at St. Rita’s and subsequently at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Known as Frania by family and friends, she enjoyed ice skating, dancing, watching tennis matches, watching hockey games, and was well known for the meticulous care she took with her yard and lawn. Frania was an excellent cook and readily shared wonderfully prepared foods with family and friends. Frania enjoyed her nursing career, loved working with children and maintained great friendships with fellow nurses. A devout Catholic, she cherished her ties with the Polish community and worshiped at St. Mary’s Polish Church her entire life. Frania is survived by her only daughter, Suzanne Estabrooks (Greg); and her two adored grandchildren, Laura and Brett Estabrooks, all of Halifax. She is also survived by her cousins, with whom she enjoyed a close relationship, Joseph (Mary) Didyk of Waterloo, Ontario, Stephan (Lee) Didyk of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Irene (Bobyk) MacNeil of Sydney, Valerie Bobyk, Halifax, and Erica Bobyk, Sydney. Frania was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Ardelli in 1993. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 20th at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Polish Church with Fr. Evo Dipierro officiating. A Reception will be held after the Mass. Internment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery after the Reception. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Frania’s memory may be made to Saint Mary’s Polish Church Building Fund or the Heart & Stroke Association of Nova Scotia. The Family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Bradford Hall at Parkland Clayton Park and particular thanks to Shari Landry for her help and support.
