Donna Arlene French Glace Bay The family of Donna Arlene French are heartbroken to announce her passing on Monday, May 23, 2022, after a year-long battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Gertrude (Tootsie) MacPherson and the late Donnie French. In her earlier years, she was employed with Atomic Energy of Canada, as well as the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Donna had many friends she kept in contact with over the years, and she was never to busy for a phone call to catch up. She was a very thoughtful and kind-hearted lady who could make you laugh, even in her final days she always tried to smile. Donna will be sadly missed by her mother Gertrude, a daughter Nicole and her only grandchild, Laikyn, and son in law, Jay. Also surviving are sisters, Sheri (Fred), Naomi (Chantelle); brothers, Johnny (Shirley), Chris (Sam), and brother-in-law Bruce; she will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews and had a special friendship with her niece, Danielle. Donna will also be missed by numerous aunts and cousins, and she was fortunate to have her childhood friend, David, who was always there for her, specifically during her illness. We would like to give a special thank you to Dr. John Rogers who was never too busy for Donna, we will be forever grateful for everything you have done and the compassion you showed. Many thanks to the staff of the Cancer Centre, An Cala and Hospice Cape Breton, who truly made things easier on us during Donna’s final days. Her friend Arnelle and cousin Cindy for the regular check ins and visits, especially this past week. Special thanks to nurses, Kailin, and Kenzie who helped take care of my mom when I wasn’t there, she always remembered your kindness. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. (902) 849-4199. In lieu of flowers, please consider a kind deed for someone in Donna’s Memory.
