Michael Bernard MacDougall, 70 Glace Bay With grief, sadness, and heartache that we the family regret to announce the passing of Michael 'Mick' Bernard MacDougall on October 1, 2021, at the cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay on September 19, 1951, to the late Jane (Nicholson) and Bernie MacDougall. Mick was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Diane (MacDonald), children: Shannon, Glace Bay, Amber (Cory Brown), Glace Bay, Sheldon (Natasha), Barr settlement, and Nicole, at home; also left behind are his 13 amazing grandchildren: Haley Jewells, Jayden Green, Dean Brown, Graci MacDougall, Haydan Dickinson, Madison McNeil, Lilly Brown, Sierra MacDonald, Sophie MacDougall, Crystal MacDonald, Tyler MacDonald, Charli MacDougall, Robert Brown, along with his adopted children, grandchildren, and 1 angel in heaven; as well as his two fur babies, Leah and Shadow. Mick also leaves behind his sister Lucy Bosley, Florida; daughter-in-law, Alisha MacDougall, Glace Bay; mother-in-law, Sis McInnis; sisters-in-law Trisha (DJ) Syms, New Waterford, Chris (Mike) Hough, Ontario; brother-in-law, Michael (Cathy) McInnis, Glace Bay, and many cousins. Also left to mourn are three special nieces, Ann (Melvin), Birch Grove, Irene MacDougall, Glace Bay, and Patsy (Jonathan), Black Brook; Special nephew, Blair MacDougall, Alberta; three godchildren, Crystal Sampson, Glace Bay, Nichole MacDougall, Newfoundland, Taylor Mounce, Glace Bay; his favorite cousin, Heather MacDougall Mounce, Glace Bay, and best friend of 26 years, Basil (Claudia) McKinnon, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mick had many careers in his life, he worked as a ditch digger, bartender, also at Highland Fish Plant. He was also a soldier who wore his medals with pride and honor and served for many years as a Cadet Officer with 2878 Cape Breton Highlanders as a Captain. He went on to work at the Children’s Learning Centre in Sydney and studied for his LPN’s and graduated in 1984, where he started his career at the former Glace Bay General, Victoria Haven, and finished his career with Breton Bay. Later in life he worked as a Teacher’s Aid at Whitney Pier Memorial School, Riverview High School and Glace Bay High School, where he retired in 2006. He was a member of Branch 3 Legion where he served as Zone Commander, as well as Vice President, he also served many years helping with the Poppy Campaign. Besides his parents, Mick was predeceased by three siblings at birth; sister’s: Irene, Beatsie, and Francie; brother’s: Eddie, Gerald, Johnny; grandson, Christopher Brown; childhood best friend’s, Gary Pace, Ronnie, and Michael Kanary; sister-in-law, Cathy Dean; brother-in-law, Curly Bosley, and special aunt, Julie McInnis. Special thanks to the Paramedics, Nurses and Doctor at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital; thank you to Dr. Spencer and Jeannie; Dr. Szabo and staff at Lawton’s Pharmacy; to the Palliative Care team and VON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association in Memory of Mick. As per Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199. Visitation will be held on October 30,2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, all taking place at T.J. Tracey's Cremation and Burial Specialists. A reception will take place the Branch 3 Legion, Union St. Glace Bay after the service. Covid-19 Restrictions are to be followed, masks are mandatory. The public are asked to provide proof of double vaccine when entering the building. “There are MacDougall’s and lesser forms of Life.” For His Former Cadets “God loves you; I don’t go home.” An Eternal Memory… Until we meet again Those special memories of you will always bring a smile, If only I could have you back for just a little while, then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do you... You always meant so very much and always will, Do too the fact you’re no longer here, will always cause me pain. But you’re forever in my heart! Until we meet again.
