She later broke into tears when I gave her a portrait of her love Carl. They were a great team. I am glad they are finally together again now. RIP Phyllis

My heartfelt sympathies to all of Phyllis’ siblings, children, grandchildren, and to those who counted her as a friend. After my parents built our Benacadie cottage in 2005, our family had the privilege of sharing a driveway with Phyllis and Carl, and that's when I started getting to know them in earnest. One could not ask for kinder neighbours and relatives. We enjoyed many cups of tea and chats over the years. I learned that Phyllis was a resilient woman; she bore the challenges of Carl’s passing, the long commutes to Centre 200, cancer treatment, and the move to East Bay with tremendous grace. This photo was taken this past June, when I ran into Phyllis at the Superstore in Sydney River. I regret not being able to attend the visitation or funeral. I look forward to paying my respects at St. Barra’s Church Cemetery. May her memory be eternal and may God grant her a peaceful repose in paradise.

I feel like I should have more memories of Phyllis than I actually do; as Auntie Valerie’s sister, she just seemed like a part our (Necey’s) family as well. Any time I got to see her she was buzzing with energy and on the go.. usually picking something up or dropping off for someone else!
