Obituary of Eileen (Allen) MacAulay

Eileen (Allen) MacAulay, 88 Glace Bay, N.S. We the family of the late Eileen MacAulay are deeply saddened to announce her peaceful passing at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay, on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 88. Eileen was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Her family meant everything to her. Eileen was a quiet, kind and gentle person who also was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour. She truly enjoyed her time spent bowling with “the girls”, and she brought home many a story to share with family. Eileen was a long-time volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and was also a member of the Jubilee Rebekah Lodge. She was a woman of strong faith who attended the former Knox United Church, where she sang in the choir. Eileen will be deeply missed by her family and the friends she made along the way. She is survived by Donald, her loving husband of nearly 70 years. She is also survived by her son Donald, daughter Heather Gillis (Laurie Murchison), grandson Kyle MacAulay (Nicole) and her two beautiful great grand daughters, Addison and Lainey. Eileen is also survived by her sister, Norma Leonard. She was predeceased by her parents, James (Janet Roberts) Allen, her sister Mary MacPherson, brothers Jimmy and Billy Allen. She was also predeceased by brothers in law Tom Leonard and James MacPherson, son in law Gordon Gillis and daughter in law Mary Gail MacAulay. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care that Ma received at Seaview Manor. The staff treated her like family and made certain that she was as comfortable as possible at all times, but particularly over her final days. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists. Visitation will be held at TJ Tracey’s, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 1-2 pm, immediately followed by a service under the direction of Rev. Allan MacLellan. A reception will follow. Internment will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Garden. Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to Glace Bay United Church.
