My condolence to Mrs. Riebe, Dawn, Margot, Natasha and especially Erin. I spent a lot of time at the Riebe house and remember when Mr. Riebe taught me how to properly scramble eggs and I still think of him every time I make them. Treasure your memories .

I loved Nick. He welcomed me into the family from the beginning. He was thoughtful and giving. He had a very playful sense of humour. Family was everything to him. He loved nothing more than being with them around the dinner table and enjoying a nice meal and a glass of wine. I'm really going to miss him. Na Zdorovie my friend.

I have fond memories of when my parents Fred and Claire travelled to the east coast to visit with family.
We would stop in Halifax on our way to Cape Breton and visit with Aunt Colleen and Uncle Nick as well as our cousins. I can remember our families celebrating with good conversation over a glass or two of red wine ( not us kids) and BBQed steaks.
I can also remember when Uncle Nick stayed with us one summer for about a month, I believe early 70's while studying French.
With deepest Sympathy.
Fred, Nephews Patrick and Phillip.

So many memories we share. When you, Nick and the girls came to visit us in Germany we had such a great time. Nick loved seeing the Black Forest and telling us about the history, and our New Year’s beautiful dinner, a memory he often spoke about. He will be missed. Sharon and Jean-Guy

Dear Riebe Family,
We are saddened to hear of Nick's passing and thinking of you all during this difficult time. Nick was a loyal and beautiful friend to us all and we have so many fond memories of him. From travelling with my parents, Dana and Charlie, and weekend dinners and drinks, to shuttling me and his girls around the city for various events, Nick was up for anything and loved being involved in the fun.
I remember our weekly drives to Stadacona in Halifax for our Bronze Cross (?) swimming lessons...Nick often was the chauffeur and made sure we were nourished with our favourite treats following (five alive and a crispy crunch). He was always part of our conversations and added his little jokes and sayings, some of which still ring in my mind ...FORD-found on road dead...). I am quite sure he loved the fact that we were all fixated on Top Gun and joined the air cadets-following in his footsteps somewhat.
Nick always went along with our wild ideas and made me feel so welcome in his home over the years. I absolutely love that he and my parents stayed close friends until the end. We were all fortunate to have him in our lives and he will be missed dearly.
Sending much love to you all, Colleen, Dawn, Margo, Erin and Natasha. Nick's precious girls who filled him with pride.
Love Monica

My deepest sympathy to Colleen, Dawn, Margo, Erin, Natasha, other family members and friends. I always enjoyed it when Nick answered the phone - you never knew whom he would claim to be. His four daughter were his pride and joy and was always ready to bring you up to date on their activities. However, when Colleen told the unlucky dishwasher winner that the sink needed cleaning he would avoid the pleading eyes because he was very proud of the way Colleen was teaching them. May happy memories carry you through the days that follow.
Sincerely
Dot Bell

I first met Nick when I was 17 nervously as I was taking his daughter on a date. Over many of the years I remember bonding over the Benz or watching Germany play the World Cup and seeing the pride he had while cheering for the team.
Over the years when I would come back for Christmas I would pop by and say hi and hang out with him and whatever family was around and have a drink while he educated me on what tannins are in wine.
To Colleen, Dawn, Margo, Erin and Natasha, you are all in my thoughts and heart.
I’ll miss him, take care.

My dear sister, what memories we share eh. Too many for such a small space, but lots of room in my heart. I'm never far away and Nick will always be close.

I enjoyed the pleasure of Nick's company many evenings at my parents house. Always a bottomless well of positive banter and character that was uniquely Nick. I last saw him just a couple of months ago when I drove him and Colleen to an appointment and while he wasn't as fast and talkative as he once was he still had that great humor he would subtlety interject with a wink here and there. My condolences to Colleen and the family. I will miss his charm and wit but always remember it.

Nick had a large personality and a long life and leaves us with many treasured memories. From early days driving the girls to Air Cadets to recently entertaining Jason during drives to medical appointments, Nick created a place in our hearts that will not be forgotten.
Condolences to the family as you deal with this loss.
