Obituary of Myles Gregory Tomiczek

Please share a memory of Myles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Myles Gregory Tomizcek at the age of 75. Gregor passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Roderick and Matilda Tomiczek. From an early age, Gregor had a love for music, sports, and old muscle cars. You could regularly find him singing and strumming his guitar for family and friends, talking about his beloved Boston Bruins or Toronto Blue Jays, or sharing stories about his favourite cars. Gregor was a welder by trade and spent his early years up until retirement working for Devco. The many years he spent working in the coal mines created some life-long friendships, and he would often share some of those stories. Gregor was a former member of the Board of Directors at Dominion Rink. Gregor shared his love of sports with his four boys. He coached Dominion Minor Baseball for many years. He will be remembered fondly by all those who crossed his path. Gregor is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Elaine (MacDougall), his four boys; Gregor (Julie), Vernon (Kara), Matthew (Sheryl), and Michael (Meranda). Gregor was very proud of his family and especially enjoyed the role of being a grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren; Jacob, Scarlett, Wyatt, Megan, and Adaline. His favourite part of the day was meeting Scarlett getting off the school bus every day. Gregor is also survived by his twin sister, Ellen (Duck) MacAulay, sister, Shirley (Steven) Brown, and brother, Victor (Norma) Tomiczek; sisters-in-law, Andrea Tomiczek and Marilyn Tomiczek; also many nieces and nephews whom he loved, and many long-time friends, especially Ronnie Boutilier. Also survived by extended family; Priscilla MacDougall, Jerry (Norma) MacDougall, Joseph (Laurie) MacDougall, Carrie (Junior) MacKellar, Carson, and Kenedi. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings; Bruno (Ethel), Tillie (Louie), Stan (Annie), Queenie (Russell), Duddie, Pat, John Michael, Pauline (Dickie), Murdock, James, and Walter in infancy; nephews, Paul Gouthro, Roddie Tomiczek, Scottie Citrigno; in-laws, Margaret and Bernie MacDougall, Vernon MacDougall, Mary Navarole, Frankie Pickup, and special son, Francis Saccary. Gregor was a quiet soul who will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. Thank you to EMTs, nurses and doctors in the ER Department. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199. As per Gregor’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. Words of condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.tjtracey.com.
