Robert “Bob” Martin White Glace Bay, N.S. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Martin White, of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, on February 9, 2025, at Victoria Haven Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Bob was 87 at his time of passing. Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife of 49 years, Evelyn, his parents, Samuel and Druscella White, and several of his siblings, including Art, Cyril, Moe, Eugene, Roddy, Audrey, Jessie, Isabel, Florence, Joyce, and Harold. He is survived by his siblings Dave, Donnie, Alex, Minnie, and Shirley, who will deeply miss him. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children: Lillian Fraser (Billy – predeceased) of Glace Bay, NS, Bobby White of Glace Bay, NS, Alex White (Laurie-Ann) of Magrath, AB, John White (Junie) of Glace Bay, NS, Wally White (Dawn) of Glace Bay, NS, and Michael White (Tara) of Hillsburgh, ON. He was a devoted grandfather to Gail Ann, Keith, Robyn, Kennedy, Michael, Brandon, Naish, Justin, Samantha, René, Ashley, Ethan, Emma, Whitney, Cynthia, Jarod, Liam, and Alicia (predeceased). Bob was also a cherished great-grandfather to Katie, Jace, MacKenzie, Emery, Abby, Emmie, Freya, Topanga, Kyle, Anthony, Peyton, Ava, and Cecilya. Bob dedicated his career to serving his community, retiring after many years with the Town of Glace Bay Public Works Street Department. Earlier in life, he proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces and worked as a coal miner. He was a founding member of the Christmas Crew Society, demonstrating his commitment to helping those in need. Beyond his professional and community contributions, Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a passion for singing, Newfoundland music, and taking scenic drives—always choosing the long way home. He also enjoyed metal detecting in search of hidden treasures, enjoyed his years of involvement with the Branch 3 Legion, and spent many years umpiring baseball games. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating lasting memories with those he loved most. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Victoria Haven Nursing Home for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care. Bob spent four wonderful years at Victoria Haven, where he formed meaningful friendships and cherished connections. A special thank you is extended to his granddaughter Kennedy, who dedicated countless hours to her “Poppy.” Kennedy created and shared photo albums with him, provided family updates through group chats, and often arranged FaceTime calls, ensuring that Bob remained closely connected to his loved ones across Canada. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
