Obituary of Barbara Lee Landry (nee Quinlan)

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara on February 9th, 2025, at Northwood – Halifax Campus. Born July 20, 1945, in Worthing, Sussex, England, Barbara immigrated to Halifax after WWII with her parents. She was a daughter of the late Earl Frederick Quinlan and late Joyce Lillian Quinlan. She attended Queen Elizabeth High School and Halifax Vocational School. She spent most of her career sharing her love of children as a Halifax School Board secretary. She was a bronze life master in bridge and was a provincial champion. Some of her favourite times were dancing with her husband or listening to him play guitar and sing to her. Nothing surpassed her love of her daughters and husband. She is predeceased by her devoted and loving husband of 50 years, Patrick Joseph Landry. She is survived by her daughters Gillian Landry and Brenda Landry. Her sisters Sandra Parker, Valerie Quinlan and her brother Andrew Quinlan. She is also survived by her in-laws Dan Landry (Karen), Roy Landry (Joan), Lawrence Landry (Fay), and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Lorraine Johnson (nee Landry). The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Northwood for Barbara’s care through her journey with Alzheimer’s disease. The energy, compassion, and attention they provided Barbara allowed her to live her best life in her final years. Cremation has taken place. A small family reception will be held rather than a funeral service, in keeping with Barbara’s wishes. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
