Obituary of Joanne Marie Malloy

Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joanne Malloy, beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend who was taken from us far too soon. Joanne dedicated herself to her family. Her children and grandchildren were her entire world. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Caryann Routledge (Pascal), only son Cory Richardson (Andrea) and her pride and joy, her four grandchildren, Erica (Nicholas), Bridget, Grace and Jonah. She is predeceased by her youngest daughter Crista, who passed away January 19, 2000. It was her love and dedication to her grandchildren that kept her light on after the loss of her daughter 25 years ago. It gives her family solace knowing she has been reunited with Crista as well as her parents, Elaine and Alfred, who we are certain were waiting for her with open arms and smiling faces. Joanne took pleasure in the simple things: listening to and singing her favourite oldies music, making crafts, road trips to the valley for fresh veggies, cross-border shopping, decorating, and all things Christmas. She loved baking and making candy apples for Halloween when her grandchildren were younger. Joanne was famous for her mouthwatering roast beef dinners and her Michelin Star seafood chowder. She loved cooking and trying new recipes for her family. Joanne was always up for fun! Even when things didn’t go as planned, she would say “It’s all part of the adventure”, and have a good laugh. She had a great sense of humor, which was to her benefit because she was often the source of the humourous stories we would recount, or the butt of the joke. She wasn’t one to take anything too seriously and always tried to see the silver lining. Joanne loved fiercely and her family and friends knew there was nothing she wouldn’t do for those she loved, including hosting parties for numerous baby showers, birthday parties, wedding showers, and graduation celebrations. She loved celebrating those she loved. She carried immense pride for her children and grandchildren. In recent days, Joanne was dealing with stage five renal failure and congestive heart failure. She was receiving dialysis and was being followed closely by her physicians and treatment providers. She had been feeling and looking better than she had in years under their supervision and we are grateful for their support. Losing her suddenly has left her family heartbroken and missing her more than any words can express. Her absence is felt in every breath, in every moment. We will call on our fond memories of her to help us through the dark days ahead, until the day we are all reunited as a family once again. Her family would like to thank the amazing Doctors and Nurses that made up her health care team through the nephrology clinic, the cardiac clinic, the nurses at the dialysis centre, Dr. Mullan, Northwood Homecare and her Social Workers, Michelle and Wendy, who fought for and supported her like she was their own. Cremation has taken place and a graveside burial will be held in spring/summer. Donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
