Obituary of Randall Wayne Anthony
Please share a memory of Randall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randall Wayne Anthony (Randy) of Maitland, Hants County, on February 7, 2025 at the VG Hospital after complications following lung surgery.
Randy was born in Halifax on July 7, 1957 to the late Goldie (Wood) and Stanley Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Glenda (Patterson), his daughters Megan (Chris Blanchard), Truro; Carly (Jonathan Hill), Edmonton; his son Mitchell (Sarah Svistunenko), Halifax; his sister Star Kelly, Truro, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Mallory, and his maternal grandparents Tillie (Collins) and Angus Wood, who helped raise him.
Randy enjoyed his working life as a skilled carpenter in and around the East Hants area. He worked his early years with Archibald Construction of Shubenacadie and later with Chris Davis Construction of Gays River. He added his expertise to many well known buildings and homes in the area. He also worked solo on many projects and was very proud of the home he built for his family in the village of Maitland.
Randy was a gifted writer. He composed thousands of beautiful poems for family, friends, and acquaintances. His gift of words touched many lives and will leave a lasting legacy.
Randy enjoyed the simple things in life… being in nature, backyard bonfires, a round of golf, quiet mornings sitting in the sun with a cup of tea and the daily crossword puzzle, feeding and watching the birds, rock hounding, wine making, amateur bartending, listening to his favorite music, going to movies, plays, and concerts, road trips around the province in the old Mustang, vacationing down south, and especially spending quality time with his kids.
Randy loved his three children immensely. He proudly referred to them as his greatest accomplishments and listed them as: “the First Verse, the Middle Riddle, and later the Aviator.” The highlight of his last year was walking his daughter, Carly, down the aisle at her summer wedding.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at the Maitland Fire Hall on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Poworoznyk officiating. A private family burial at Oak Island Cemetery will follow at a later date.
